West
The route descends a green valley from Kingston’s summit to the town, and crosses Richmond Park. After a short piece of riverside walking, the streets and parks of west London are followed to the southern reaches of Northwick Park, with some canal towpath and Horsenden Hill as an interlude.
There then follows a cigar-shaped almost-loop to collect the summit of Brent: again, a mix of parkland and streetscapes with two crossings of Fryent Country Park (and a trip to its summit at Barn Hill) to return to a different part of Northwick Park.
The route then follows footpaths over Harrow Hill to the edge of Harrow town centre. Streets, parkland and riverside paths take the route to Eastcote village, then paths are taken through the ancient Ruislip Woods (and past the less ancient Ruislip Lido) to Northwood. Streets and a long enclosed path reach the summit of Hillingdon, after which the route is mainly green (except for South Oxhey) via Oxhey Woods, Grimsdyke and Stanmore Common, all the way to Stanmore station.
