Pennine walks (south)

This grouping covers the hilly areas between two lines of communication — between Hellifield and Ilkley, and the Hope Valley line between Stockport and Sheffield. There is an overlap with the next-door grouping to the north.

Routes

• Barnsley Boundary Walk
  A walk of 108km which encircles Barnsley.
• Burnley Way
  A 65km circuit from Burnley.
• Calderdale Way
  A walk of 80km making a circuit, mainly in the hills above the towns in Calderdale, passing close to stations at Todmorden and Brighouse.
• Derwent Valley Heritage Way
  A walk of 85km along the river between Ladybower Reservoir and Derwent Mouth.
• Haworth to Hebden Bridge Walk
  A 10km walk between Haworth and Hebden Bridge.
• Kirklees Way
  A walk of 120km encircling the Borough of Kirklees.
• Midshires Way
  A 361km walk between Princes Risborough and Stockport.
• Pennine Bridleway
  A walk (or ride) of 593km between Middleton Top and Cote Moor.
• Pennine Way
  A walk of 422km between Edale and Kirk Yetholm; this National Trail does not qualify as a Green Walk. In addition to the 45km gap between Byrness (sketchy bus service) and Kirk Yetholm, buses connect with different settlements from the next access point in many areas.
• Rochdale Way
  A 72km walk round the borough of Rochdale.
• Sheffield Country Walk
  A walk of 86km encircling Sheffield.
• South Yorkshire Way (Boundary)
  A 279km walk encircling South Yorkshire.
• Transpennine Trail
  A 346km walk between Southport and Hornsea.
• Wakefield Way
  A walk of 115km encircling Wakefield.
• Worth Way (West Yorkshire)
  A walk of 18km creating a loop between Keighley and Oxenhope.
