Paths along towpaths are generally flat, making them attractive for walkers with constraints on steep ascents, but it must be noted that they are not necessarily without steps and/or stiles. There will also be some variation to cope with canal tunnels with no towpath. This may mean that those walkers with the above-mentioned constraints will resort to a bus to cover the problematic bits.

A 14km walk along the towpath (with necessary diversions via streets to negotiate tunnels) between Little Venice and Limehouse. - Royal Military Canal Path
A 45km walk alongside the Royal Military Canal between Hythe and Rye.
