Grand Union Canal Walk
A 227km walk along the towpath of the canal between the River Thames at Brentford and Birmingham’s famous Gas Street Basin.
Public transport connections (97 locations) are abundant, with only one gap of over 10km and only six of over 5km. The route is shadowed by the railway running between London (Euston) and Milton Keynes, allowing anywhere on that route to act as a base station for the south. Again, the route is shadowed by the railway between Leamington Spa and Birmingham, offering equal flexibility in choosing a base station. Daventry is probably the best candidate for a base station for the hinge between the two rail-enabled sections.
