Hillingdon Trail

Hillingdon Trail

A 32km waymarked path across the London Borough of Hillingdon.

The northern endpoint is on the Grand Union Canal on the borough boundary between Harefield and Rickmansworth (the two key access points at this end of the Trail); the southern endpoint is at Cranford church, not far from the bus links on the A4. The Trail follows an almost entirely green route throughout.

There are bus connections throughout; the route splits almost exactly in half at West Ruislip station (Chiltern Railways and the Central Line), though including the walk-in from either Harefield West or Rickmansworth to the northern terminus (the Coal Tax obelisk marks the point), the half-way point is at Ruislip Lido (where there is a pub, toilets and a bus terminus). The walk is accessible from anywhere in the Greater London conurbation.

Observations

HS2 works have caused minor re-routing of the Hillingdon Trail (call it HT2?) between Harefield and West Ruislip — the new route may even be an improvement.

Clack Lane, West Ruislip
