Icknield Way Trail

Icknield Way Trail

A walk of 193km between Ivinghoe Beacon and Knettishall Heath.

The given distance includes links between Tring station and Ivinghoe Beacon, and between Knettishall Heath and the bus stop at Coney Weston. Public transport links (31 locations) are available throughout, with four gaps of over 15km. Base station choices are rather limited, since the route tends to cross main traffic flows rather than follow them, though Luton and Hitchin are possibilities in the west, and Bury St Edmunds, though a bit of a stretch, could fulfil the role in the east.

The route links the Ridgeway and Peddars Way National Trails and forms part of the Greater Ridgeway route between Lyme Regis and Holme next the Sea.
