Hubs
Some places lend themselves to being hubs, where you may pitch up for a few days’ car-free walking, fanning out on a different route (or part of a route) each day. The hub becomes a walking-place for recreation at walking pace. Hubs in this area include

Burton is the main hub for the south-west of the area, backed up in the far south by Lichfield. - Derby
Derby is the principal hub for the north-western part of the area. - Nottingham
Nottingham is the main hub for the centre of the area, with good public transport across the landscape. - Uttoxeter
Uttoxeter is a useful local hub, backed up to the south by Lichfield.
