We have divided Scotland into four areas. The northern area lies to the north of the Sound of Mull, the A85 road between Oban and Perth, and the Firth of Tay. The central area lies south of that line and north of the Forth and Clyde Canal. The south-eastern and south-western areas lie to the south of the canal; the dividing line between the two is the central postcode area boundary which runs south from the canal to reach the border north-east of Carlisle.
