Shakespeare’s Avon Way

Shakespeare’s Avon Way

A walk of 151km following the Warwickshire Avon from its source at Naseby to its outflow into the Severn at Tewkesbury.

Public transport connections (30 locations) are available at key staging points along the route. Setting base stations is not easy, though Leamington Spa would cover the area between Rugby and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Observations

Walkers should be aware that there are extended road sections (even where there is a clear field-path alternative) — perhaps the route has been chosen to optimise for car-borne backup to the walker (rather than optimising for the country walking experience), for this route was devised specifically with the aim of harvesting money for a charity through the sponsorship of the walker.
