West Island Way

West Island Way

A walk of 51km on the Isle of Bute.

The route loops from Port Bannatyne to Rhubodach and back, then continues to Kilchattan Bay, and takes a loop from there to Rubh’ an Eun and back. Bus links (8 locations) are available at key staging points. There are ferries at Rhubodach (for Colintraive on the Loch Lomond and Cowal Way) and Rothesay (for Wemyss Bay on the Clyde Coastal Path and Ayrshire Coastal Path, and for rail connections with Glasgow). Rothesay is the clear winner as a base station, though the island is small enough that any centre of population may be used.
