Hiraethog Trail

This 68km route crosses the countryside between Pentrefoelas and Bodfari with a total ascent of about 1600m.
There are bus connections on or near the route at Pentrefoelas, Cerrigydrudion, Pont Arddwyfaen, Llanrhaeadr, Denbigh and Bodfari. For Pont Arddwyfaen, turn left at the end of the lane descending from Bryn-hyfryd chapel and follow the minor road to the stop on the A5 — do not walk the A5, which has no pavement. There is a bus at Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr and at Clawdd Newydd (2km south of Clocaenog), but only on a Friday with one bus in each direction. Buses run to and from railheads at Chester and Wrexham, changing at Corwen for points west.
From Bodfari, the Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail offers an extension — a strenuous day (20km and 700m ascent) — to the railway station at Prestatyn.
