Description
This is a walk of two contrasting halves, with a spectacular find half-way round. The route leaves Amberley station (essentially at sea level) and follows the South Downs Way up onto the Downs, topping out at 225m. It then descends to Bignor and the Roman villa before following the West Sussex Literary Trail along the valley bottom back to the station. Clockwise walking is recommended.
