Description
This circuit takes in the varied woodland and countryside to the south-west of Basildon, keeping out of the townscape until the final 2km to the station. The route visits the fascinating area of Dunton Plotlands, a tessellation of tiny plots sold off between the 1930s and the 1980s for smallholdings and cottages for weekend or holiday use. Almost all the plots are empty now, but there is a wildlife centre and a preserved bungalow.
