Upminster to Richmond

Beam Valley Park

Starting from Upminster, the next station (Brixton) is over 40km away — though if the Bakerloo Line ever gets to Hayes (in the London Borough of Bromley and not located in a neighbouring county, nor the one in the London Borough of Hillingdon met later on the route), the route will stretch farther. One reason for the relative lack of Tube services south of the river is the geological challenge for nineteenth-century tunnelers. The opening of Battersea Power Station station added 22km to the route: before then, it was a short hop from Morden to Wimbledon. This section ends with the rural delights (including mud) of Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park.
